Description

Located in the symbolic place of the medieval Giudecca of Lecce, the Museum is characterized as a meeting place, culture and dialogue and is proposed as a reference point for discovering the traditions, the history of the Jewish community that lived in Lecce in the late Middle Ages, but above all to enhance its cultural heritage, reconstructing one of the pieces of that mosaic of cultures and traditions of  the medieval city, with particular attention to the local Jewish community. From the will of the founding members of the Jewish Museum of Lecce to give more space to art, MAiDE was born in 2022, a gallery dedicated to contemporary art that houses the works of international artists of Jewish and non-Jewish culture and is configured as a place for painting workshops and events.
