The new year of the Teatro Fusco in Taranto begins on 10th and 11th of January with Gioele Dix who also signs the dramaturgy and direction of “The race behind the wind. Dino Buzzati or the enchantment of the world”.

Under the building where a great writer lives, a paper bullet rains from above in the middle of the night. What will be the content? Unimportant notes or unforgettable verses to save? From this fascinating point, taken from a story by Dino Buzzati, the new show written and performed by Gioele Dix starts off The race behind the wind.

Set in a sort of a literary laboratory, halfway between a typography and a warehouse of memory, the show draws from the very rich chest of stories of the great writer from Belluno - including the famous collection “Sixty stories”, like “Il colombre” and “In that precise moment” - and composes a mosaic of characters and human events where each of us can find traces of ourselves.

Dino Buzzati was a writer, journalist, painter and a multifaceted talent, but above all a fine watcher of souls. And his writing, both realistic and fantastic, always runs fast to the point, while not neglecting the eternal suspension that characterizes our lives. And thanks to his narrative talent, fears, dreams and fantasies that are more than familiar to us take poetic form.

The race behind the wind is an unprecedented theatrical journey thanks to which Gioele Dix, inspired by Buzzati's characters and atmospheres, talks (also) about himself, his tastes, his anxieties, his comic intolerances with irony and paradox to which he has accustomed his audience, sharing the stage with Valentina Cardinali, a talented and eclectic young actress.

I began reading Dino Buzzati's stories at the age of twelve. They have become part of my imagination. His voice often resembles mine. I consider him the inventor of perfect stories, which not only captivate you – because you want to know how they end – but always leave an ineffable, familiar mark to you.
