Description

The two columns at the port of Brindisi have ancient origins. Probably from Roman times, they are located near the port of the city and this has tickled the imagination of scholars that  have even come to hypothesize that they served as a support for a lighthouse. Between the two columns there should have been a bronze beam with a golden lighthouse. It is possible that the two famous columns of Piazza San Marco in Venice represent a medieval copy of these of Brindisi.
